On February 25, 2010, I left work to go to my weekly scheduled doctor's appointment. I was 36 weeks pregnant. My mom went with me because Braxton had an important conference call during my appointment. He usually never missed an appointment. Braxton was a very involved daddy from the start! At my appointment, my doctor thought that I had preeclampsia so he sent me over to the hospital to run some more tests and monitor me for a few hours. Dr. Kouri said that he would either send me home if my blood pressure lowered or keep me overnight in the hospital if it didn't. He also said that I might have to go ahead and have my C-section the following morning instead of on March 10th as previously scheduled. I was starting to get a little freaked out, but didn't think much of the situation. I figured that I would go for the tests, be sent home, and be put on bedrest. So, I called Braxton during his conference call and told him what was going on. He immediately left work and came to be with me at the hospital. After a few hours of being monitored, Dr. Kouri felt like the tests were inconclusive and wanting to continue monitoring me overnight. Braxton went home to get some clothes for us and to pick up some dinner. While he was gone, the nurse checked me and I was 4 centimeters dilated and 90% effaced! She then said to me, "You're having these babies tonight!" So, I frantically called Braxton to tell him to hurry up and get back to the hospital because they were going to start my C-section within the hour! I was immediately flooded with so many emotions: excitement that I would finally get to meet my sweet babies and see their little faces and hold them for the first time, anxiety about the surgery, anxiety about Braxton making it back to the hospital, and relief from months of being uncomfortable. Braxton made it back to the hospital and was sooooo excited that the time had come! He prayed with me before they wheeled me down to surgery. He came in right before they began my C-section and held my hand the whole time. Caroline was the first baby to come out. She was 5 lbs. 14 oz. and 19 centimeters long. Next, was Avery! She was 5 lbs. 10 oz. and 18.5 centimeters long. They were both healthy babies with no complications even though they were preemies! We are so blessed!! They were both able to come home from the hospital with us. That was my prayer and goal during my entire pregnancy.

Megan-its Jody, I am so glad that your doing this blog! I have been thinking about you alot and praying for you and your family. As I've gone through this process myself I have wondered how you did/were at certain times and reading this has answered many of those questions. :) Your girls are amazing and are so lucky to have you and Braxton as parents.
So excited you started a blog! And I loved hearing the story of how they were born. The pictures of them in the bassinet are just too adorable. Hope to get to see them (and you) again soon!!
Looking at your pictures made me tear up! Loved "hearing" your story!
